After a few years the Group decided to formalise its structure by adopting an agreed constitution and duly published its governing Rules of Management. These Rules have since been amended on separate occasions. The opening section of the Rules reads:-

The Pain Clinic Support Group is established for the following purpose in the area comprising the Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare Trust Region:-

1) To stimulate patient interest in maintaining a good quality of life within limitations.

2) To support and encourage members’ of the Group to come to terms with their disabilities.

3)To hold regular monthly meetings and arrange speakers, visits and social functions.

4) To publicise the aims of the Group and engender public support.

5) To raise funds for the benefit of the Pain Clinic and its patients.

6) To do all such things as are necessary for the attainment of the said purpose.

 

TEN’s Self Adhesive Pads

The pads are available to buy from the Pain Clinic Support Group at cost price (plus postage if necessary) from a member of the Committee of the Pain Support Group. The meetings which are held the 3rd Monday of each Month in the Howarth Unit Scarborough Hospital, all patients (friends & relatives) of Dr D F Jones Pain Clinic are most welcome.

 

Swimming, Sauna and Fitness Equipment.

The Pain Clinic Support Group have arranged with a local Hotel to use their Leisure Facilities at a very competitive price, which can be paid for by any Member at the Monthly Pain Clinic Support Group meetings (details as above).

 

Social Activities

The Pain Clinic Support Group hold various social and fund raising events throughout the year and try to raise money either for the good of the members or to help other patients in Scarborough Hospital. Most Social Events are subsidised by the Support Group Funds.
